Project Status
The project is currently in the planning assessment phase, following completion of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and formal lodgement of the Development Application. FRV has undertaken detailed environmental, social and economic assessments to support the EIS, along with ongoing consultation with the local community, Registered Aboriginal Parties (RAPs), Council and other key stakeholders
Project Timeline
The project is also being assessed under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act, through the bilateral assessment agreement between the NSW and Australian Governments. This means that the EIS prepared for the NSW approval process will also be used to inform the Commonwealth’s assessment, ensuring a coordinated approach across both jurisdictions.

The Planning Assessment Process
Now that the EIS has been lodged, the project will go through the NSW Government assessment process, which typically includes:
Public exhibition of the EIS – the community, stakeholders and government agencies will have the opportunity to review the project and provide submissions
Agency consultation – relevant authorities (such as Council, Transport for NSW, etc.) will review the proposal and provide advice
Response to submissions (RTS) – FRV will respond to feedback received during exhibition and, if required, provide updated information or reports
Final assessment by the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI)
Determination – a final decision will be made on whether the project is approved or not, and under what conditions, by the relevant decision-making authority.
FRV will continue to engage with the community and stakeholders throughout this process and will provide updates as the assessment progresses.
Further information on the project, including key documents and updates on the assessment process, can also be accessed through the NSW Major Projects Portal.
